How you will contribute:
- Advising clients on enhancing state and local tax opportunities and managing state and local tax risk associated with mergers and acquisitions, including post-acquisition actions
- Analyzing state and local tax risks of target companies using tax returns, accounting information, and interviews with management
- Preparing and reviewing reports correlating state and local tax due diligence and tax structuring findings.
- Identifying issues affecting purchase price, deal structure, or deal termination
- Working closely with executives, investment bankers, private equity and corporate clients, attorneys, or other stakeholders
- Leading, supervising, recruiting, and training team members providing state and local transaction services to clients
- Managing multiple concurrent engagements
- Working alongside other Forvis Mazars team members to exceed client expectations
We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and:
- Extensive analytical and project management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with corporate and flow-through concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and lead team members
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint
- Willingness and ability to travel
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university or CPA eligible; licensed CPA is preferred
- Five (5) years or more of state and local tax experience with a large public accounting or consulting firm with at least two (2) years or more of experience in Transaction Services / M&A Tax
- Strong current knowledge in state and local income, franchise and indirect tax, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction services
