Description & Requirements

How you will contribute:

  • Manage the delivery of a full-range of services in our Tax Transformation practice
  • Exploring through discovery of a clients’ current state of tax function efficiency, through interviews with tax executives, tax team members, and general ledger professionals; communicating confidently and curiously.
  • Leading with the team to recommend solutions to clients based on information obtained during the Discovery process and their needs.
  • Working with multiple tax subject matter and/or industry experts to provide the client with appropriate tax technical and/or industry support on projects, as needed.
  • Leading the project management of the discovery phase and data implementation services, including collaboration and management of IT, tax technology, process, and other Forvis Mazars technicians to ensure the highest client service.
  • Management of client deliverables, which may include PowerPoint presentations, Visio workflows, functional business requirements, agendas, meeting summaries, and/or client memorandum.
  • Applying personal tax technical acumen to each client project, as available; learn and develop new technical knowledge specific to the Tax Transformation practice and the clients we serve, by participating in professional development activities.
  • Leading the development of Tax Transformation practice tools, templates, and procedures, utilizing Forvis Mazars resources to the maximum extent
  • Develop and help lead the team responsible for ensuring risk management and quality control in client service
  • Assist in leadership of staffing, assistance in providing career path opportunities, identification, and development of engagement opportunities, and help determine the strategic direction of the practice
  • Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and execute, based on firm focus and future of the tax service line
  • Demonstrate company values and alignment with the firm’s mission and long-term vision

 

Business Development and Strategy:

  • Work closely with the firm’s partners, managing directors, directors, managers, and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development
  • Actively participate in direct marketing activities, thought leadership development, and professional organizations
  • Create new service offerings for the firm and leverage other team members to lead these areas
  • Work with various segments and niche practices of the firm (e.g. risk advisory services, international tax services, transfer pricing, valuation, cost segregation, research tax credits, SALT, tax controversy, transaction advisory services, etc.) to bring a holistic approach to clients and prospects
  • Lead business development and community activities to help identify and research opportunities for new and existing clients
  • Develop and manage a book of business to meet goals/objectives
  • Communicate confidently with senior client management and their team
  • Build key client relationships
  • Work with Forvis Mazars leadership to define and execute a growth strategy and a business and succession plan for the practice

Team Development:

  • Participate in continuous learning activities and research to improve and develop technical expertise
  • Develop internal training to educate firm personnel
  • Represent the firm by authoring articles and presenting at seminars and webinars
  • Grow the team by recruiting and retaining talent
  • Assess technology needs for the practice
  • Provide mentorship to the team

We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and:

  • Growth motivated to grow the practice with tax transformation services. This includes actively seeking out and participating in networking activities
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 12 years or more of related tax transformation and technology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a book of business and proven track record in building a profitable practice
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products, and strong analytical knowledge in Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects within restricted timelines
  • General understanding/experience of tax cycle and tax workflow within each cycle
  • Ability to travel as needed to serve clients

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMO and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation
  • A broad range of tax knowledge experience, both technical (international, federal, state and local, etc.) and functional (compliance, provision, reserves, etc.) 
  • Process/technology experience in a tax environment
  • Aptitude for process improvement identification and experience with data manipulation and/or tax systems 
  • Previous experience with a Big Four, National, or Regional CPA firm
